womans center & home birth services

Prenatal Care

Once your labor has begun and you are ready for our support, the midwife and birthing assistant arrive to your home (or meet you at the Women's Center) to prepare for the birth. A small home birth supply list is given to you at 32 weeks and we deliver a home birth kit to your home at 36 weeks. If you are birthing at the Women's Center, we provide all supplies.

During this time we will:

-Monitor contraction pattern and progress
-Monitor your baby's heart rate and positioning
-Apply counter pressure and give position suggestions
-Assist in the use of water and TENs unit to relive discomfort
-Provide emotional and physical support
-Provide quiet and unobtrusive monitoring following birth
-Give a newborn exam and baby-led latching encouragement
-Postpartum care at 2 days, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks
